Common treatment options
Scar revision surgery
Removes the problematic scar and closes the skin carefully to create a better-quality scar.
Laser treatment
May improve pigmentation, redness and the texture of some scars.
Microneedling / RF microneedling
Can help improve depressed or uneven scar texture.
Silicone gel or sheets
Useful particularly for raised or hypertrophic scars.
Steroid injections
May be used for raised hypertrophic or keloid scars.
Fat grafting or fillers
In selected depressed or tethered scars.
Important
A scar that is painful, itchy, or has changed recently should be examined before any cosmetic treatment — occasionally these point to something that needs treating in its own right, such as endometriosis in the scar. Scars also continue to mature for a year or more, so timing matters.
Next steps
Every one of these procedures begins with an in-person gynaecological assessment. At that consultation we go through your concern, examine where necessary, explain which options are genuinely suitable for you — including doing nothing — and give you a clear estimate before anything is scheduled.
