Stretch Marks (Striae)

Stretch marks are common after pregnancy, rapid weight gain or loss, puberty, or hormonal changes. They occur when the skin stretches faster than its collagen and elastin can adapt.

Stretch marks are extremely common and entirely normal.

Treatment options

  1. Fractional laser

    Helps improve texture and appearance.

  2. RF microneedling

Stimulates collagen and can reduce the visibility of mature stretch marks.

  3. Microneedling

    Useful for improving skin texture.

  4. PRP

Sometimes used as an adjunct to collagen-stimulating treatments.

  5. Combination therapy

Often gives better results than a single modality.

Important

Worth being straightforward: stretch marks can be made less noticeable, but no treatment removes them completely. Older, pale stretch marks respond less well than newer red ones. If someone promises to erase them, be sceptical.

Next steps

Every one of these procedures begins with an in-person gynaecological assessment. At that consultation we go through your concern, examine where necessary, explain which options are genuinely suitable for you — including doing nothing — and give you a clear estimate before anything is scheduled.
