What does a tummy tuck involve?
- Removal of loose or hanging abdominal skin
- Removal of selected excess fat
- Tightening / repair of separated abdominal muscles when required
- Repositioning of the umbilicus in a full tummy tuck
- Improvement of the overall abdominal contour
Who may benefit?
It is commonly considered after:
- Pregnancy and childbirth
- Significant weight loss
- Persistent loose abdominal skin despite diet and exercise
- Abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti), when clinically appropriate
Important
A tummy tuck is major surgery with a real recovery period and a permanent scar, and it is generally advised only once you have completed your family and your weight has been stable. It is not a weight-loss operation. All of this is set out plainly before anything is scheduled.
Next steps
Every one of these procedures begins with an in-person gynaecological assessment. At that consultation we go through your concern, examine where necessary, explain which options are genuinely suitable for you — including doing nothing — and give you a clear estimate before anything is scheduled.
